In one of my rather graphic intense keynote presentations, the Quicktime export once swallowed some text. Try STP first as I am unsure if Compressor can handle 32 bit files. I literally witnessed this happen in the middle of the Quicktime installation - and there was DEFINITELY nothing else running at the time. Once you have located the file, delete it (or move it to a different folder if you might want to re-install it later).
