Randomly Lost Internet Connection

On some laptops - the Wi-Fi connection would go "dead" when undocked/unplugged, but would resume when plugged back in. I'm hopeful this will fix the problem, although after trying everything else with no luck, I'm not very optimistic. Unfortunately the next guy that came out didn't concur, had no record of the first technicians concerns about the cable coming in possibly being the problem and they have basically said I also went into Control Panel, then Performance Information and Tools, the "Adjust Power Settings" and made it where it's high performance and can't do any power saving. Not the cable, cable modem or line issues in the house. The devices are all apple products - iPads, iPhones, MacBooks and appleTVs.I even see the problem with appleTV streaming music/movies from my media server, both are hard wired gigabit Ethernet.
