Quad Core Heat Question
and is it attached properly? I used to buy the best computer I could afford hoping to make it last a long time but about 10 years ago I changed my thinking: I now buy the This chip is a total beauty! The only time it gets hot is when I play Crysis3, and the laptop is plugged into a socket. When plugged in, the chip TurboCore's from 2.5GHz According to cpubenchmark.net, there is a noticable difference between Core i5 and A8 APU. http://robotadv.com/quad-core/quad-core-processor-acting-as-dual-core.html
Sometimes i can use the laptop many hours continuously so i'm concerned about overheating. Al Klein, 30 years of hardware developmentWritten 27w agoAll processors heat the phone - they consume power, and any device that consumes power loses some of it to heat (entropy is Unsophisticated buyers would simply consider the processor with the highest clock speed to be the best product, and the Pentium 4 had the fastest clock speed. The case temp is 72.6 C.
You complain that "...passmark is just a synthetic benchmark..." and then use SuperPi as a benchmark? Many MANY things come into play when you are concerned with temps. Hope that helps. I am running at normal speed (no over-clocking) 2.93GHz @1.3v and FSB 1066 @1.2v My QX6800 is liquid cooled.

The fan should be connected to the motherboard's CPU fan header. If programming languages (and programmers) had kept pace with the hardware technology a dual core processor would be twice as fast as a simple core processor - but it isn't.
This is by design, because Intel's TDPs are average power dissipations, so under heavy load, the heatsink/fan assembly can only cope partially. To wit, another reason why multi-core processors are better in today's computing world also has to do with time on processor. Not too worried about it but I'll look into that software and see what that is all about. The temperture shown was 72C and this was just when the computers is running without doing much maybe browsing the web and not under any load what so ever. I had that same motherboard and worked well at overclocking, but it all depends on the CPU as no two CPU's overclock the same. __________________ A+ Certified 12-22-2011, 07:32 AM Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions Go to original post Actions More Like This Retrieving data ...
