Unfortunatley it conficted with Norton. Sorry, there was a problem flagging this post. Otherwise remove ZA and choose another free firewall, again many choices out there. Yes I think I've read they're #1 but I just read here on Cnet that AVG has their own board here.If you read it there are a of unhappy campers! Personally, I use Avast, as it's not so heavy on the processor from my experience, and the free suite seems more involved in threat detection. As others have pointed out, you need to run these programs one at a time.
Let the anti-virus app continue it's work of real-time scanning, and use MBAM as a back-up, once a week or so, manual scanner to look for the signs of malware infection hollywoodam, Apr 9, 2009 #4 brokenhead Thread Starter Joined: Oct 11, 2006 Messages: 260 Are you familiar with AVG Free, hollywoodam? I have read some great reviews about Avast and actually had it for a short time and think it talked to me- unless I was hearing voices Lol! I installed 8.5 and we'll see if it removes or fixes the problems it finds. I know it is a free program, but does that mean it shouldn't work? You don't have many posts about the issue here because nearly everyone posts at AVG.

I don't use Win 7's firewall myself but it does it's job.Customising it is slightly different to 3rd party firewalls, but there are plenty of web sites available to help you Judging by the thread on the old AVG Forums from one year ago, it shouldn't matter what version of Windows the PC is running, nor should it matter whether they install
NoYes × Are you sure to choose it as the best answer? I installed it and I'm getting the same miserable misbegotten upgrade popup again. Marvin has absolutely no doubt that it would make no difference at all! I have used AVG, ZoneAlarm, Spy Bot search and destroy, ad-aware (all free programs) for several years now and have NOT had any infections get onto any computer I have them
I like CCleaner but have never heard or tried Advanced System Care. this contact form They gave me a link for an update that was the firewall only. Thanks Roddy and Dragon. Sorry again, Fax ZebAugust 30th, 2014, 08:55 AMThanks fax, but I already read that entire thread, and I did try your "Reset to Default" suggestion.

- There is nothing special about my system, and there is nothing wrong with my system! I'm afraid that CCleaner might have deleted AVG log files anyway, although it certainly did not
- Like LF I use XP with Zonealarm firewall and keep being pestered to "update" to the combined suite which I don't want as I'm perfectly happy with MSE.
