For many years, ATA provided the most common and the least expensive interface for this application. I had recently read about an Oxford 911 firmware update whose release notes mentioned something about dual-drive functionality. But are you for sure that it doesn't support 48 LBA? IIRC it shipped with the 12-2002 firmware.
